Arriveing at Salt Lake at 10 A M of the 11th Staying there 2 days. On the Evening of the 13th In company with Seveal other Brethren Met in the Historian's Office and was there set apart for the Mission, Apostle John Henry Smith being Moth. Fourteenth left Salt Lake on the D & R G at Eleven A M, traveled South to Spanish Fork thence up Spanish Fork Kanyon on to Soldier Summit then down Price River Kanyon, 15th up the Gunnison River Emerged out of the Kanyon into a beutifull Small Valley then up what is called Crooked Road up over Marshall Pass, this Pass being Ten Thousand 10,000 feet High passing though a number of Snow Shed and a Tunnell, over a beautifull Meassa then douwn Black Kanyon Arriving at Pueblo about 430 PM Staying there two hours Friday 16th we traveled over a large Messa or Prairie Dotted over with beautifull farms and Villages and Towns. Arriving at Topeka about 430 PM passed through Lawrence quite an Historical Situated on the Arkansis River saw the Bridge that's over the above River. Teams crossing over it at the time, and some distance down the River I saw the Ferry Boat, about 630 PM Arrived at Kanses went through Kansis and crossed the Missouri River ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p002.jpg) 1888 Saturday Seventeenth 17th We passed through what what is called Muscadine in the State of Iowa on the Missippi River Arriving at Chiarcho at 530 P.M Staying there one hour, leaving their at 630 P.M reaching New York between ten & Eleven oclock in the Evening of the 18th On Monday the 19th rained nearly all day in New York so that we were not able to go round much We got our Steamship Tickets and got on Board the Steamer Alaska at 7 PM. 20th the Vessel Started at 530 A,M took Breakfast about Ten oclock Afterwards felt quite Sick all day, 21st still worse heaving up my Shoe Strings, then in the Evening felt some Better 22nd quite poorly 23rd no Better 25th some better attended Church of England Services in the first Class Cabbin The Captain of the Steamer performing the Services. 26th feeling much better 27th Arriving at Queenstown at 3 PM then Sailed along the Northwestern Coast of Ireland Arriving at Liverpool Docks at half past 10 one the Mornning of the 28th reaching 42 Islington at 12 M in the Afternoon I purchased the following Books at the Office Book of Mormon Doctrine & Covenants Spencers Letters Chatechism Voice of Warning Ready Father, 30th Left Liverpool on the Train at 12 oclock for Merthyr in South Wales changing Cars at Crewe Station from there to Whitfield Church then to Shrewsbury Changed Cars Arriving Merthy at 7 PM Saturday Dec, 1st Attended a Council Meenting in the Conference House, Sunday 2nd Attended Our Meetting, all day. 3rd went down in Town done some Shoping bought me a pair of Shoes a Hat and an Umberella also some Christmas Cards, which I Mailed to my Wife and Children at home. 4th In company with Brother David R Gill I walked down to what is called Quaker's Yard and back 8 Miles & back to see Cousin Mary Davies the Daughter of Aunt Ann Leasson, 5th Took Train went to Cumbach to see My Friend Evan Williams' Brothers & their families found them all well and was treated very kindly by them they were very very good & kind to me, 6th One of the Brothers taking me all through the place in the Afternoon we walked up to Aberdare Station, I then took Train to Neath there Met Brother Noah Aunt Leasson and her Daughter Mrs Thomas lives, Cousin Hannah & her Husband owning the place, 8th We walked down to Swansea 5 Miles & back Seeing the Market which was Grand & seeing other places of Interest then walked back leaving Brother Williams on the way at Morriston & I returning to L Lansamlet 9th Sunday Attended Church of England Services in Company with Cousin Hannah 10th Spent the day writing to My family & to my Brother Henry also sent them a very nice Cards 11th Took the Train to L Lanelly to See My Mothers Motherfolks found Aunt Mary Hughs and Cousins Ann Maryjane and Sophia Cousin Ann is Married to John Morgan a Blacksmith and has quite a large family, the others are young Ladies at home 12th walked out Some distance to see Cousin Thomas Williams who is quite an Invalid in the Afternoon to see L Lanelly Market 13th around some & reading & writing some 14th & 15th the Same 16th Attended a Welsh ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p005.jpg) Dec, 1888 Baptist Church in the Morning Baptist School in the Afternoon in Comppany with Mr John Morgan a Cousinlaw, in the Evening to a Welsh Baptist Church in Company with Rachel Jones & John Edward distant relatives of My Mothers Niece & Nephew to Morgan David of Spanish Fork, after Meeting went down by the Sea Side and found two Cousins, Uncle Edmund's Daughters 17th spent the day writing up this Journal 18th Stayed in the house reading some of our works, 19th in the afternoon was down to the seaside, to see Uncle Edmund's Daughter Harriet and then went over to the Lighthouse had a fine view all around with glasses could see boats far in the distance fishing, out in the Sea 20th around Town Some, 21st in the afternoon went up to Felinfoel to See Cousin Williams and to see the Cemetry to find the Graves of my GrandParents but the weather being so wet, I failed to see them, in the Evening Brother John D Evans called to see me, whom I was very much pleased to talk with, after Spending some time in pleasant conver- sation we walked out together down to where he was Stopping, next <22nd> Mornning <22nd> He called and I accompanied him out Some distance on his Journey to Carmarthem, I then visited the Market it being Saturday, 23rd In the Mornning I attended Churh called the Church of all Saints 24th I started to go to Felinfoel but could not very well as it is ----- new page 26th Took a walk up to L Lanedy to see my Grandpa Great Grand Father's Graves a distance of 8 Miles & back 27th Mailed the above Letters and visited Uncle Edmund's Daughters 28th Stayed in the house reading untill the afternoon invited out to some Friends to take Tea, ha a good time talking upon the principles of the Gospel left some Tracts with them and also Loaned them the Book of Mormon, 29th I walked up to Swansea & from there to Traveler's Rest a distance of 14½ Miles 30th Stayed with Aunt Ann at the above house 31st Aunt and I walked over to Morriston to See her Daughter- in-Law the Widow of John James her son New Year's day spent the time quietly in the house 2nd walked over to Morriston to see My Cousin in Law and family & then Some distance over a high Mountain to see one of her sons and his family 3rd I took a horseback ride to Sansea and back & then up a Mountain which in all was about 8 Miles 4th Stayed in the in the Mornning getting Names of My Fathers Folks in the afternoon walked over to Neath 4½ Miles Stopped at Sister Williams 5th in company with Brother Noah Williams walked from Neath to Merthyr a distance When I took off my Shoes one of my Socks had blood on & my toes were quite Sore and bleeding ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p007.jpg) of 22<3> miles. 6th Sunday attended in Council Meeting with the Brethren of the Mission in the Afternoon & Evening, 2 Meetings of the Saints. 7th Meeting of the Council in the Mornings the Evening writing to my Family. 8th In the Morning writing up this Jouranl in the evening in company with Brother David R Gill took a walk to see some of his friends and formed the acquaintance of one family by the Names of Richards Brother to Morgan Richards, Sen of Parowan. 9th Reparprng to Start off upon our Field of Labor. 10th In company with Br Noah Williams took Train to Glyn Neath then walked to Neath, 11th We parted I then walked alone that to Morristown had quite a time to get a Lodging place that night. 12th walked around distributing Tracts. 13th walked back to Neath 5 miles there Met Brother Williams attended Meetting with the Saints of Neath. 14th we both walked to Swansea Attended a Theatrical Performance. 15th Went down to the Beach and around on the Dock, and out on the Pier it was lovely to see the Vessels out on the water in the afternoon walked back to Morristown where I stopped Brother Williams going farther up the Valley. 16th Went around distributing Tracts. 17th The Same and also trying to Sell the Book of Mormon. 18th walked up the Canal to Meet Brothers Williams up at Cly<[-]>ach but failed to see him. 19th walked over to Neath to Attend Meetting on the Sabbath at Neath ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p008.jpg) 20th Met again with Bro. Williams at Neath held Meeting there with the Saints at Bro Eastman's. 21st We both walked over to Some very old Ruins of Castles or Abbeys as they are called that were partially torn down by Cromwell. 22nd We walked over to Pontardawe 23rd I walked down to Morristown then out into the Country distributing Tracts. 24th Returned back to Pontardawe 25th We both took a Stroll over the Mountains visited a Mineral Spring noted for its Medical properties 26th We walked down to Swansea to Attend a Meeting with the Saints at Swansea 27th We failed to get a place to Meet in We visted around & fond a Mrs Richards and her family, She being the Daugher of Grandma Leigh who was very kind. 28th Walked back to Pontardawe. 29th Spent the Day in Reading 30th Reading and writing. 31st Walked over to Neath. Feb, 1st Took Train up to Merthyr 2nd Attended a a Council Meeting on the Traveling Elders, 3rd In the Morning Met with the General Priesthood in the afternoon Met with the Saints, 4th Spent the day Reading & writing 5th Reading & writing in the went out in Company with Brother David R Gill to Isaac Richards, Brother to Morgan Richards Senr of Parowan to Tea with them and were treated very kindly, 6th Brother Noah ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p009.jpg) Williams & I start out this morning to go to Neath I maild a letter to my wife before starting 7th we walked over to Swansea 8th we visited around Swanses in the afternoon brother Williams going up the Valley I remaining in Swansea 9th 10th 11th in the same place 12th walked down to LLanelly staying there till the 15th then walked back up to Swansea 16th spent the day writing to my family and one to Father & one to Geoge E Perry 17th in the Evenin attended the Saints Meeting, 18th 19th 20th still there 21st & 22nd distributing Tracts 23rd walked up the Valley to see Br Williams 24th we both walked down to Swansea in the Evening attended the Saints Meetting 25th 26th & 27th still still there 28th walked over to Neath. March 1st Br Williams & I went up to Merthyr in the afternoon I wrote up this journal for the month 2nd met in Council with the Brethren all day in the Evening Pres Teasdel & Elder Mccalister arrived from Liverpool to attend the Semi, Annual Conference of the Welsh Mission 3rd Sunday conference in the Temperance Hall at 10,30 AM, the speakers were Pres S R Brough Elders David R Gill. Jenkins Thomas and Pres, Teasdel in the afternoon the meeting was Sunday Morning I was surprised & pleased to meet my friend M H Dalley who stayed with us 2 or 3 days ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p010.jpg) Addressed by Elders Mccalister M H Dalley and Pres, Teasdel, with agreat deal of confusion prevail- ing the Meeting, The Saints Met in the evening but were greatly disturbed by those who came purposely to disturb & make a noise in the Meeting having to Send for a Policeman which did not quiet them much, the Mob keeping up a continual uproar, After retireing to the Conference House we recieved some very good Instructions from Pres, Teasdel 4th Pres, Teasdel & Elder Mccalister returned to Liverpool the Brthren Met in Council to recieve their Appointments I being Appointed to change my field of Labor from the Swan- sea Valley to go down to the lower part of Pembrokeshire to Milford Haven, to labour with Elder Alma C Davis of Spanish Fork 5th the Brethren Spent in Sport and recreation 6th I wrote & posted a Letter to my family 7th I took Train in Comp, with Several of the Brethren to our fields of labour, 8th Br, Timothy B Davis & myself to Train to Sandare it raining to Much for us to walk, then walked down to Swansea 9th I Stayed in Swansea 10th Met with the Saints 11th & 12th walked around through Swansea 13th done some writing Wrote a Letter to Brother Palmer & family 14th walked from Swansea down to L Lanelly 11½ Miles, 15th I worked in the garden for Aunt ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p011.jpg) Mary Hughs diging the garden planting Onions seeds Cabbage Plants and early Potatoes, 16th I went down <16th recieved a letter from home with $500> to the Seaside to See my Cousins Uncle Edmund's Daughters 17th I attended a Pabtist Church which my Cousin Ann 18th Brother Alma C Davis and myself walked from LLanelly down to Carmarthan 22 Miles in the Evening I wrote to my family 19th In the Morning finished My Letter & Mailed it then walked through a drenching rain 5 Miles, then Took Train to Narberth 20th walked to Harfords Ford <24>. 21st we walked to Milford Haven, here is our Stoping place in this District 22nd There being no Saints here & the weather being to cold for out door preaching at present, we spend our time in Reading writting & walking around conversing where we get an oppurtunity, 25th been writing to my family, 26th Spent the day in Reading 27th The Morning writting up this Journal the afternon writing to George H. Wood 28th finished & posted the Letter 29th 30th 31st Reading traveling around some little April 1st 2nd & 3rd Working digging in the Garden 3rd I received a Letter from home 4th Wrote a Letter to my family 5th We sent in our report for the Month 6th & 7th Reading 8th & 9th working in the Garden 6th I received aletter from Father with $500/100 in it 7th a letter from my Brother John who is on a Mission in the States ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p012.jpg) April 1889 Milford Haven 10th writing to my Quorum 11th writing to David Urie & family Posted them off together 12th & 13th traveling around 14th in the afternoon Attended a Salvation Army Meeting in which I was invited to Speak, done so [-] It being the first time for me to Speak upon the principles of the Gospel to the World. 15th We went out to See a large Castle which is very fine large Building 16th we were out distributing Tracts 17th & 18th the same 19th we were out to see if we could Make some arrangements that may be able to preach to the world on Sunday next 20th Accompanied my partner out some distance as he was going out to See some of his relative[-] 21st & 22nd 23rd did not do much 24th posted a Letter to Father received a letter from home went out some distanc[-] Tracting 25th Wrote & posted aletter home 26th receive[-] aletter from home 27th Around in the Villiages 28th 29th 30th the Same. May 1st 2nd did not do much 3rd Sent in our report to Merthyr 4th Atteneded a funeral was invited to walk in front of the Pall Bearers. 7th walked down by Pembroke Dock and Neighland giving Tracts, 8th got a registered Lette[-] from home with $1000 in Wrote & Posted a letter home the same day 9th & 10th around Milford Haven ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p013.jpg) May 11th 1889 11th walked down to Pembroke Dock crossing the water in the Ferry Boat walked around Town looking for one David Morgan a Turner or Jainer by Trade but failed to find him was up on the hill above Town where we could have a lovely view, also inside the Barracks, 12th We were over to Stenton around through Thornton & Priday to hold outdoor Meetings but failed to hold any. 13th Wrote and Posted a Letter to Brother Timothy B Davis a friend; who is here an a Mission from Cache Valley 14th Studying the Scriptures in the Evening we held our first out- door Meeting 15th we walked down to Neighland then crossed over to Pembroke Dock distributing a Number of Tracts 16th. In the afternoon walked out to a Small Village went from door to door Notifying the people that we would hold an out door Meeting in the Village that Evening if they would please come out & hear which they did & we had a very good little Meeting in the Morning I received a Letter from Brother Timothy B Davis. 17th rained all day 18th Morning raind so that we did not go <[-]ut> got a Letter from home to day 19th we were round in the Streets looking around for an oppurtunity to hold an out door Meeting and also out to a Small Village close by but failed to have any 20th walked down to Neighland to see one David Morgan Cousin to Father but he was the wrong Man we had a very interesting time with a W[-] James a Second to My Partner who made us very welcome in the evening we held ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p014.jpg) Millford Haven May 21st 1889 an out door Meeting in Waterstone had a very nice little Meeting 21st we walked out some distance to a villiage to hold an ope[-] Air Meeting but on arriving, there found that there was a funeral there; then walked to another Village Notified Several that we we would hold Meeting there that evening, but the Salvation Army had left word that they were going to hold Meeting which they did it being too late after their Meeting for us to have one So we gave Notice that we would the following Evening wh 22nt We were out to where we had given out our Appointme[--] last Evening and held our open air Meeting 23rd Wrote a Letter home to my family in answer to one I had received on the Eightteenth in the Eveveng held an open air Meeting 24th It being rainy and cold we did not go out 25th My Partner Brother Alma C Davis not feeling very well we did not go out. 26th In the afternoon we out to a village 3 Miles to get an oppurtunity to hold and out door Meeting but failed to get a gathering Notified the peop[-] that we would hold Meeting there the Next Evening if they would attend & the weather would permit 27th rained So that we did not go out and hold Meeting 28th we were out to the above place but could not have Meeting as there was going to other Meetings he[-] Made an Appointmentment to Meet there on the 30th ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p015.jpg) Millford Haven 29th was raining so we did not go out, part of the day writing to My Fatherinlaw & family 30th finished writing the Letter & Posted it 31st walked down to Neighland held an out door Meeting in a Village close by the above place in the evening June 1st raining received a Letter from My Brotherinlaw David Urie 2nd got a Letter from home 3rd cold and Stormy 4th we were out to Stenton a Small Village & held Meeting out doors in the Evening 5th in the Morning writing to My family in the afternoon had a nice boat ride out in the Haven Harbor in the evening invited out to Tea 6th finished writing & posted a Letter to my family in the evening we were out Some distance to a Small Village and held an out door Meeting 7th walked Some distance to another Village and held Meeting 8th I received a Letter from My brotherinlaw O P W Bergstrom & family 9th walked around looking for an oppurtunity to preach but did not untill evening then we held an out door Meeting 10th It being a geneal Holiday we made no attempt at holding Meting 11th we went out to a Neighboring Village and held Meeting in the Evening 12th Brother Davis went off to see his relations gone overnight 13th I wrote & posted a Letter to My brotherinlaw ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p016.jpg) Millford Haven June 13th David Urie & family also enclosed a note in the same to my family in the evening was going out to hold Meeting but blew up to cold 14th 15th at 6 20 Train from this place to Merthyr arriving at 1 PM at 2 PM met in Council with the Elders to give in the report of our labors at 7 PM Priesthood Meeting where Pres, Teasdell met with us 16th at 9 AM received a Copy of the Deseret News from Father at 10 AM Met in our district Meeting where a number of the Elders Spoke upon the first principles of the Gospel and also Met at 2 PM then again at 6 PM 17th at 9 AM received a Letter from home at 10 AM the Elders met in Council to receive their appointments to their different fields of labor I being appointed in connexion with brother Alma C Davis to return down to Pembrokeshire at 7 PM Took Train to Abernant Station then walked down to Cubach some 2 Miles to See the Williams family brothers to Mr Evan Williams of Cedar 18th In the Morning visiting around through the different Works in the afternoon walked back to Merthyr over the Mountain 19th Took Train in Company with brother Richard Morse to Landore Station then walked into Swansea Staying there Same 3 hours then returned to Landore & took Train to LLanelly 20th Spent the with my friends & ----- new page (MSS3319_I1_F1_p017.jpg) Millford Haven June relatives & walking around with brother Morse 21st with my relatives till in the afternoon then Took Train to Johns- town Stopping on the way at Carmarthan 2 hours ariving at Johnstown at 8 20 PM then walking to this place some 3 miles 22nd Writing to My family 23rd We held an- out door Meeting here in Millford 24th finished writing & posted the Letter to My family then commenced writing to my Father; Merthyr in the Afternoon 20th Sunday Conference today and had an excellent time President Teadsale and the President of the London Conference being present 21st Spent the day writing up this Journal 22nd Writing to Bro, C J Arthur in the Afternoon went up in the Haven to See one Isaac Richards & family 23rd finished Bro Arthur's Letter & Posted it 24th Went out into the district Stopping Tredagar over night we there held an open Air Meeting by the Town Clock had a good turn out Staying that night at a Coffee Tavern 25th We done some tracting I called at the house of a Church of England Minister to enquire for one Parson Leigh that used to live there found that he had gone to Aberavon and had died there has a brother living at the Nelson place Name Daniel then walked throgh diferent Villages tracting Staying over night at Cwmtelery with John Grimly 26th We Walked over to Blanavon from there to Abergovenny 27th Sunday We held Meeting With the Saints in the evening Attended to the Selling books in the Morning we confirmed the boy a Member of the Church I being Mouth 29th We walked up to Blan avon Stayed there all the Afternoon tracting & Selling book in the Evening walked down to Abersychan there I got 3 Letters two from the family one from Henry and family We also got a Letter from Pres, Mathews informing us of the death of Bro, & Sister Evans's infant child which Mak[-] Me feel very Sorrowful 30th In the Morning writing the Brethren and family at the Conference house expressing My deep Sorrow and Sympathy to the Bereaved Parents in the Afternoon commenced Writing to My family 31st finished writing the Above Letter and Posted it On the 30th My Partner went into Merthyr Aug 1st Stayed around at Abersychan 2nd Walked down to Pont y pool along with Bro, Benjamin Jones Pres, of the Abersychan Branch then on down to Pont-y pool road Station then back up to Abersychan 3rd Sunday Meeting with the Saints 4th Bank holiday Walked & rode part of the Way down to getting to our Lodging place at a ¼ to 12 oclock 5th Walked down to Plasy gardens about one mile below Pontydryn then in the eveving back to Abersychan 8 Miles 6th Around some trying to Sell books 7th Staying there tracting 8th Started back towards Merthyr Walking over to Cumtelery Staying there overnight 9th Started out Walked to Blaina then up to Nanty Flo tracting & Selling books Stopping at one house & having a long conversation upon the Gospel Walking from there to Bryn Mawr called to Owen Davis & family had Dinner with them after dinner he came out with me quite a distance I then walked on through different villages tracting & Selling books Arriving at the Conference house in the evening very tired & foot Sore 10th Sunday In the Morning raining so there was no Sunday School 2 oclock Met with the Saints after Meeting Br, Thomas Pres, Mathews & Myself took a walk up on the hill around & back in the evening met with the Saints 11th Most of the day writing up this Journal 12th Walked out into the district about 25 Miles distributing Many tracts Selling one Book of Mormon 5 Voice of Warnings 13th visited around among the Saints 14th Walked back the above distance to Merthyr again Llanelly 19th 20th 21st & 22nd visiting my relatives & friends and geting what Names I could of My relatives 23rd Started out from Llanelly on foot and walked up to Swansea the road part of the way being very Mud[-] then to Landare calling at Bro, Prauce & having dinner with them then walked on to Morristown calling in to see Mrs James & family My Cousin James's Widow & family then Walked on to Llansamlet Station calling at the Travele[-] rest to See Cousin Hannah Thomas & her husband who is very sick in the evening took Train from there to Merthyr Arriving there at 8 PM then at 1120 PM took Train for London Arriving in London between 8 & 9 AM Sunday 24th Walking Around a few hours looking around at places of interest at 2 PM we met The London Conference Elders at 42 Pendant Street Bro, privilege of Speaking in one of those Meeting during the intermission between the two Meetings We took Tea with the Saints in the Chappal in the evening we held an open air Meeting in which I occupied the time 25th We Spent the day Seeing the different placaes of interest London Bridge the Monument The Bank of England General Post Office Westmins- Abbey St Paul's Cathedreal Spent the evening at the house of Mr Everard at 12 20 that night taking Train for Merthyr Arriving at Merthyr Tuesday Morning about Nine oclock tired & Sleepy Most of the Brethren going to bed I Staying up writing Most of the day of the 26th 27th Writing 28th received a letter from home answered the same Morning & Started out into our district Walking to Cwmtelery 16 Miles 29th done some tracting 30th the Same & Walked at the abov[-] place 16th Visited the Asylum Seeing Wm Janes of Penlarn the Son of Sister Jones of Penlarn Monday there was a grand turn out at the above place in honor of the Duke of Clarene & avondale being the Prince of Wales's oldest Son 17th Walked back to Abersychan 10 Miles distributi[-] Many tracts around the farm houses 18th Walked over to Cwmtelery going around by the Vipon Works giving tracts & Selling our Church Works 19th Walked down to Abertelerry Selling some of our Church Works and giving tracts from there to Cwmbelaw Ebwavale then in the Afternoon over the hills by going to Fredagar through the rain getting quite wet 25th Walked over to Ebowvale there commenced tracting Selling books going on down to Victoria Selling eight voice of Warnings & two books of Mormon then walked up to Beaufort then in the Evening back to Merthyr Eight Miles 26th felt quite Sore & tired resting this day 27th Started to Llanelly took Train to Glyn Neath then Walked on to Neath 28th Sunday Walked to Llansamlett called in at Traveler's rest to see Cousin Hannah Since I had been there last she had buried her husband been buried three Weeks Stayed there two or three hours had dinner there then Walked on through Morristown to Las Plas close to Landore called into the house of Br & Sister Prouce there Met with Bros, Evan S Morgan and John D Williams held Meeting there late in the Evening we We all three Walked down into Swansea to get Lodgings for the Night 29th In the Town of Swansea I parted with the above Brethren and Walked out as far as the Cockett Station ----- new page evening late Started out for Neath 7 Mi[-] Arriving there about 9 oclock Stoping over Night at Hugh William's house 4th got in comp, with Elder Evan S Morgan we took train for Merthyr to Attend Council in the Evening We Met with the Brethren 5th Sunday Met With the Brethren Priesthood Meeti[-] in the Afternoon Sacrament Meeting Meeting again in the evening 6th Wrote three Letters one to the family one to Brother & Sister Bergstrom one to George and his family 7th Writing up this Journal it is raining quite Steady having very wet weather 8th Reading some and walking around in Merthyr 9th Waiting to see Brothe[-] John J Griffiths off to his home in Adamsville Beaver Co. G.
