The Department of
Physiology and Developmental Biology was established in 2003 as part of the
restructuring of the College of Biology and Agriculture. It houses the programs
that were formerly part of the Department of Zoology. The Department of Zoology
and Entomology was established in 1925. Physiology is the study of the
functions of the body systems. Developmental biology is the study of how
specific genes govern differentiation of cells, tissues, and organs with unique
structure and functions. The degrees offered in the department prepare students
for exciting careers in medicine, research, and other professional programs.
The collection contains the meeting
minutes of the Department of Zoology from 1960-1978 as well as miscellaneous
awards from 1984-1994. These awards include the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished
Teacher Award, the Karl G. Maeser Research and Creative Arts Award, the Karl G.
Maeser Excellence in Teaching Award, the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Faculty
Lecturer Award, and the Phi Kappa Phi Faculty Award.

The Department of Physiology and Developmental Biology was established
